Zelda Rubinstein, star of Poltergeist passed away today.
Zelda Rubinstein who played mystic/psychic Tangina in the hit 80’s film Poltergeist, died today of natural causes. Rubinstein was 76.
It was reported, at the end of December, that Ms Rubinstein had been taken off life support at Cedars Sinai medical Centre in LA, after two of her major organ failed. This was later dismissed and it was reported that Ms Rubinstein was on her way to recovery.
Diminutive, baby voiced Zelda Rubinstein was best known for her role in the 1982 film Poltergeist. Rubinstein played the psychic Tangina who tried to help the Freeling family escape from their haunted home. Rubinstein reprised her role in the sequels Poltergeist 2: The Other Side and Poltergeist 3. Rubinstein also appeared as the mother figure in a high-profile mid-1980s public awareness campaign in Los Angeles aimed at stopping the spread of AIDS. Rubinstein would appear at screenings of Poltergeist over the years and would pose for photos with everyone who asked.
