Scheduling conflicts force actor to quit supernatural comedy.
Zach Galifianakis has removed himself from the supernatural comedy ‘R.I.P.D.,’ which Robert Schwentke (‘Red’) will direct. He was due to co-star with Ryan Reynolds on the project.
The actor had hoped to squeeze in the movie before or after he stars filming with Will Ferrell on the Jay Roach-directed political comedy ‘Southern Rivals,’ but due to the uncertainty over the start date of ‘R.I.P.D.’ and the actor’s commitments to the TV series ‘Bored to Death’ a conflicts of schedules has forced the actor to drop out of the movie.
Based on the Dark Horse comics by Peter Lenkov, ‘R.I.P.D’ (Rest In Peace Department) centers around Nick Cruz, a cop who was murdered by an unknown assailant while on the job. He accepts a deal with the R.I.P.D. to serve a hundred years of service in exchange for a chance to figure out who it was that killed him. Galifianakis was set to co-star as another undead police officer who tags along with Cruz as they patrol the underworld.
