Tim Minchin to Score Animated Tale LARRIKINS

Multi-talented comic will write the score for animated feature.

British-born Australian comedian/actor/composer Tim Minchin has been brought in to provide the music and lyrics for DreamWorks Animation’s animated adventure ‘Larrikins.’

The film, named after Australian slang for mischievous youngsters, tells the story of an uptight bilby (a desert-dwelling marsupial) who lives in the desert and leaves the security of his family burrow for a musical adventure across the untamed Australian outback.

Christina Steinberg (‘Rise of the Guardians’) will produce the project, which is based on an original idea by Harry Cripps (‘Supernova,’ ‘Paws’).

“I was lucky enough to grow-up in Western Australia and know that the Australian outback is vast and spell-binding and heart-stoppingly beautiful, and the characters that inhabit it are unique and hilarious and tough and cheeky,” Minchin said in a statement. “I am hugely excited to be working with Harry and the Dreamworks Animation team in their mission to capture some of this unique aesthetic and quirky, iconoclastic culture on film. It’s going to be bloody good fun.”
