Fans of Tim Burton will be delighted to hear that he has just signed a two picture deal with Disney. The director is extremely popular with Irish audiences, the recent release of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D’ has made more on its Irish screen in Dundrum than anywhere else in the UK/Ireland market.
Burton will put his distinctive touch on the combination live-action and performance capture version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale “Alice in Wonderland.” The film, based on a script by Linda Woolverton (“The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast”) will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D(tm). Filming will begin in early 2008 with a production completion date in May ’08.
Additionally, Burton will produce and direct a full-length motion picture version of his beloved 1984 film short, “Frankenweenie” about a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner in a very unusual way. The film will be shot in stop motion animation and presented in Disney Digital 3-D.
