Taylor Swift and Allison Pill Circle GIRLS LIKE US

Stars circle musical biopic.

Showblitz reports that singer turned actress Taylor Swift is circling the role of Joni Mitchell in an adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book ‘Girls Like Us.’

The 2008 book is the triple biography of singer-songwriters Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon, three generational icons “whose success reflected, enervated and shaped the feminist movement that grew up with them.”

Swift has yet to receive an official offer but has been linked to the role for several months now, while ‘Midnight in Paris’ actress Allison Pill has been circling the part of King. Showblitz had no word on what actresses were being eyed for the role of Simon.

‘House’ executive producer Katie Jacobs, who optioned the book herself several years ago, will make her directorial debut with the project, with a screenplay penned by John Sayles (‘Passion Fish,’ ‘Lone Star’).
