Spielbergs Lincoln in December

Steven Spielberg follows “Tintin” with Abraham Lincoln biopic

According to reports the long-gestating biopic of Abraham Lincoln may be Steven Spielberg’s next project following the now filming Tintin.

Playwright-screenwriter Tony Kushner, who is revising the script for Lincoln, took part this week in the Harvard University Institute of Politics forum panel “Looking For Lincoln: In his Time and Ours — A Conversation on the Meaning of Abraham Lincoln.”

Kushner is reported to have said there that “‘the decision will be made on Lincoln next week’ and that if the green light is given the film will be ‘out by Christmas.'”

He said that the project will focus only on the last few months of Lincoln’s life. The Angels in America scribe added that the 13th amendment “is a big thing in the movie.” The 13th amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude.

Liam Neeson, who visits Dublin this month for the Jameson Film Festival, is attached to portray Lincoln.
