Snow White loses her Huntsman while things may be looking up for Superman.
It appears that the negotiations between ‘Lord of the Rings’ star Viggo Mortensen and Universal, for the fairy-tale update ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ have fallen apart.
Mortensen and Universal had been in negotiations for quite some time now. At one point in the negotiations, the talks became so frayed that the actor was believed to be flirting with the idea of taking the villain role in Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman: Man of Steel.’ Heat Vision’s sources are claiming the actor asked for €9 million as well as gross participation, something Universal was none too happy about. The studio has decided to move on.
Does this move put the actor back in the running for Warner Bros’ ‘Superman’? Last week Snyder shot down Mortensen’s involvement, but whether that was down to a scheduling conflict or simply a rumour is unknown. Another role the actor would be free to move on to, would be that of Roland Deschain in ‘The Dark Tower.’ The role of Deschain is believed to be going to Javier Bardem, but he was only described as “psychologically locked” so we shall have to wait and see.
‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ updates the classic fairy tale and also amps up the action quotient and plays up the relationship between White and the Huntsman. In the new scenario, when White is banished and on the run by the evil queen, the Huntsman takes her under his wing to protect her, and she becomes his protégé, learning how to fight and defend herself. The movie is set to star Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron as Snow White and the Evil Queen respectively. Rupert Sanders is directing.
