Joins Liam Neeson and Felicity Jones…
Sigourney Weaver (‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’) has reportedly signed on to star alongside Felicity Jones (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’) and Liam Neeson (‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’) in the film adaptation of Patrick Ness’ award-winning children’s fantasy novel ‘A Monster Calls.’
Juan Antonio Bayona (‘The Impossible,’ ‘The Orphanage’) is attached to direct the drama, which revolves around a young boy who attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that deal with courage, loss and faith.
As previously reported Jones will be playing the boy’s mother, while Neeson plays the titular monster. The folks at Heat Vision have Weaver taking the role of the boy’s grandmother.
Producers include River Road Entertainment’s Bill Pohlad and Mitch Horwits, Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King of Participant Media, and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger.
