Acker will helm the comic book adaptation.
‘9’ director Shane Acker has been tapped by Reel FX to take directing duties on the studio’s upcoming CG-animated feature ‘Beasts of Burden.’
Based on the Dark Horse Comics series created by Eisner-award winners Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson, ‘Beasts of Burden’ is set in the community of Burden Hill, and follows a gang of a heroic gang of dogs and one cat (Pugs, Ace, Jack, Whitey, Red and the Orphan) who team up to protect their owners and a picturesque town from supernatural forces.
“It’s a pleasure to be working with such accomplished producers and filmmakers on this incredible project,” Acker said in a statement. “There is a real independent spirit at Reel FX — the studio is full of energy and fresh ideas — which is necessary to bring this unique story to life.”
‘Beasts of Burden’ will be penned by Darren Lemke (‘Turbo,’ ‘Shrek Forever After’) with Aron Warner, Reel FX’s President of Animation, producing alongside Mike Richardson from Dark Horse Entertainment and Andrew Adamson from Strange Weather.
