Veteran filmmaker to produce fact-based thriller.
THR is reporting that Martin Scorsese is to take an executive producer credit on Hong Kong filmmaker Andrew Lau’s next directorial effort, the New York-set gangster action-thriller ‘Revenge of the Green Dragons.’
Penned by Michael Di Jiacomo and based on a New Yorker article by journalist Fredric Dannen, ‘Revenge of the Green Dragons’ is set in the 1980s and revolves around two immigrant brothers fighting their way up the notorious Green Dragons gang, and then their struggle to confront their former associates after one of them is cast beyond the pale for his trysts with his clan chieftain.”
A longtime admirer of Lau’s, Scorsese‘s Oscar-winning ‘The Departed’ was based on Lau’s crime thriller ‘Infernal Affairs.’ Principal photography is targeted for an April start with financing coming from Octane, IM Global’s genre division.
