Noomi Rapace co-starring.
ThePlaylist has word that Matthias Schoenaerts (‘Suite française,’ ‘Rust & Bone,’ ‘The Loft’) is set to reunite with his ‘Bullhead’ director Michael Roskam for the Dennis Lehane adaptation ‘Animal Rescue.’
With Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace attached to star, the drama follows a lonely Boston bartender who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog’s abusive and mentally unstable former owner, while simultaneously getting caught in the middle of a criminal conspiracy playing out in his mob-controlled bar.
Chernin Entertainment and Mike Larocca are producing the film, which Lehane adapted from his own short story that first appeared in ‘Boston Noir.’ Principal photography is expected to begin this spring in New York.
