British actress nabs female lead.
Rebecca Hall (‘The Awakening,’ ‘Frost/Nixon,’ ‘The Town’) has been announced as the female lead alongside Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany in Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, ‘Transcendence.’
As previously reported, the script by newcomer Jack Paglen is believed to revolve around a scientist (Depp) whose brain is uploaded into a supercomputer with the aim of creating the world’s first ‘self-aware computer.’
Production is scheduled to kick off in April in Los Angeles. Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder are on board to executive produce.
Hall will next be seen starring in Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’ alongside Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce and Don Cheadle.
