Marmalade sandwiches at the ready, A third fun-filled and heart-warming adventure with Paddington Bear is on the way, with StudioCanal confirming that the threequel is currently in active development.
Speaking to Variety, reps for the studio said: “We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care – as with film 1 and 2.”
The news follows on the heels of BBC Radio 2’s interview with ‘Paddington’ star Hugh Bonneville, who revealed that there was “forward momentum” on a third film, and that it was “somewhere on the horizon.”
Written and directed by British filmmaker Paul King, the first two films – a mixtures of CGI and live-action – were global box office successes, grossing more than $280 million and $225 million worldwide, respectively.
King, who is currently working away on the Willy Wonka origin feature ‘Wonka,’ has previously stated he would not take the director’s chair for a third film but would still be involved with the series in some capacity.
