Jacko’s Thriller and Muppets Movie added to US National Film Registry
Michael Jackson’s music video Thriller has been selected for preservation by the US National Film Registry, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The National Film Registry spotlights the importance of protecting America’s matchless film heritage and cinematic creativity. By preserving the nation’s films, we safeguard a significant element of our cultural patrimony and history.
This year, the John Landis-directed music video for Thriller was one of 25 films chosen for the Registry’s archive based on cultural, historic and aesthetic significance. The Incredible Shrinking Man, Dog Day Afternoon and The Muppet Movie were among the annual selections.
