Based on Mitch Cullin’s 2005 novel ‘A Slight Trick Of The Mind,’ the Bill Condon-directed film follows an aged and long-retired Sherlock Holmes who is haunted by an unsolved case involving a beautiful woman. With his legendary mental powers on the wane, and without his old sidekick Watson, Holmes is faced with the toughest case of his life – a case that might finally reveal to him the mysteries of the human heart.
Laura Linney co-stars, playing Holmes’ housekeeper Mrs Munro who, along with her amateur-sleuthing son, lives with the legendary detective.
’47 Ronin’ and ‘The Wolverine’ star Hiroyuki Sanada, and Hattie Morahan (‘Outnumbered,’ ‘The Bletchley Circle’) are also attached.
‘Mr. Holmes’ is currently filming in London, with Anne Carey of Archer Gray Productions, BBC Films’ Christine Langan, See-Saw Films, and Icon/AI Film’s Aviv Giladi, and Len Blavatnik producing.
Over 70 actors have previously played Sherlock Holmes. Now he’s 93 years old and it’s my turn. #MrHolmes pic.twitter.com/B9HkUgfkCv
