Oscar and Emmy winner lines up two projects…
Multiple outlets are reporting that ‘True Detective’ and ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star Matthew McConaughey is the top choice to play the demonic Randall Flagg in Warner Bros’ long-gestating feature adaptation of ‘The Stand.’
With writer-director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars,’ ‘Stuck in Love’) behind the camera, the post-apocalyptic tale of good vs. evil is based on the 1978 novel by Stephen King and follows a band of survivors who find themselves up against the mysterious Randall Flagg, aka the Walkin’ Dude, an Antichrist-like figure with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers.
Additionally, it has be revealed that McConaughey is also being lined up to for a role in screenwriter-turned-director Stephen Gaghan’s true story, ‘Gold.’ Set in 1993, the drama is about the “Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal in which vast amounts of gold were reportedly discovered in the Indonesian jungle.”
McConaughey will next be seen starring in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ when it hits Irish cinemas November 7th.
