Joins John Goodman for indie thriller…
Deadline says that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (‘Kill The Messenger,’ A.C.O.D,’ ‘The Spectacular Now’) has signed on to take the lead in JJ Abrams-produced micro-budget thriller ‘The Cellar,’ formerly titled ‘ Valencia.’
Penned by Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken, with rewrites by Dan Casey, the film sees Winstead playing “a woman who wakes up underground after a terrible car accident and fears she’s been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, warns her that a terrible chemical attack has left the outside world uninhabitable but as tensions rise she decides she must escape regardless of the terrors that await outside.”
As previously revealed, John Goodman (‘The Monuments Men,’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis,’ ‘Red State’) will be playing her “captor.”
Dan Trachtenberg (‘Portal: No Escape’) is attached to direct, with Abrams producing with Bad Robot partners Jon Cohen, and Lindsey Weber.
