Disney classic to get live-action treatment…
Walt Disney Pictures has reportedly set in motion plans for a live-action remake of its 1941 animated classic ‘Dumbo.’
One of Disney’s shortest animated features, the original follows a young circus elephant named Jumbo Jr who is ridiculed for having unusually large ears. Befriended by the brash-but-lovable Timothy Q. Mouse, Dumbo is encouraged to achieve his full potential and learns to fly using his ears as wings.
The Mouse House has tapped Ehren Kruger, the scribe behind ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and ‘The Ring,’ to provide the script for the makeover. Kruger will also serve as producer on the film alongside Justin Springer (‘Oblivion,’ ‘Tron: Legacy’).
According to THR, this new take on the tale will add “a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s story.” Dumbo himself will be a CG creation.
