Liam Neeson cameo cut and re-shot with Nick Cassavetes in the role.
Director Todd Philips has revealed he had to cut Liam Neeson’s cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist from ‘The Hangover Part II.’ Neeson’s small role was originally envisioned for Mel Gibson.
The director tells Variety that he cut the scene following Neeson’s cameo during the editing process, meaning Neeson’s scene no longer had the information necessary to logically get the Wolf Pack to what became the next scene.
For continuity reasons, the director had to reshoot the scene, but with Nesson busy working on the ‘Clash of the Titans’ sequel in London, he was unavailable for the reshoot. Philips chose to recast the small role with Nick Cassavetes.
“We were in a complete time crunch so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part,” Phillips told Variety. “He came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film. [I’m excited for everyone] to see the film. It turned out great.”
