‘Friday Night Lights’ star circles remake of 2011 martial arts actioner…
Taylor Kitsch (‘A Normal Heart,’ ‘Lone Survivor’) has reportedly been offered a lead role alongside Frank Grillo (‘The Purge: Anarchy,’ ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’) in the English-language remake of Gareth Evans’ Indonesian action thriller ‘The Raid.’
With Aussie helmer Patrick Hughes (‘The Expendables 3,’ ‘Red Hill’) attached to direct, the remake is expected to stay close to the original’s plot and follows an elite S.W.A.T. team that gets trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs.
According to The Wrap, the remake is aiming for a January start, which may cause scheduling issues, as Kitsch is the frontrunner for the younger male lead in the second season of the hit HBO show ‘True Detective,’ also set to shoot in the New Year.
