Juno sticks at number one spot in this weekend’s movie charts.
There are a couple of surprises in this week’s Irish Cinema Box Office Charts. First, considering it was Valentines, the charts are markedly devoid of romance with only two films for the couples: ‘Definitely, Maybe’ at number seven and ‘Penelope’ at number nine. Everyone assumed Sci-fi thriller ‘Jumper’, would jump to number 1. Not so. Instead, it’s the unexpected expecting-teen ‘Juno’, who sticks to her sassy sarcastic guns bringing in a whopping €315,000. Nicholas Cage’s first ever sequel, ‘National Treasure’, slips down from two to three and both kid films have climbed up since last week, ‘The Waterhorse’, now at number four ( last week’s number five ) and ‘Alvin and The Chipmunks’ at number six (impressive considering it looked like it was leaving the charts last week at number nine). This weeks only other new entry is ‘The Bucketlist’, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as two dying men who go on one final road trip with a list of things to accomplish before they ‘kick the bucket’.
The top ten in full:
1 Juno €315,000
2 Jumper €262,000
3 National Treasure: Book of Secrets €199,000
4 The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep €109,000
