Newcomer hired for J.J. Abrams-produced project.
Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot have tapped up-and-coming director Julius Onah to helm their sci-fi thriller ‘God Particle.’
Acquired by Paramount earlier this year, the Oren Uziel penned screenplay follows the terrified crew of an orbiting American space station who are left abandoned after a problem with a Hadron accelerator causes Earth to vanish entirely. When a European spacecraft appears on their radar, the Americans must determine whether it’s their salvation, or a harbinger of doom.
J.J. Abrams will produce the project, with the film being developed through Paramount’s Insurge Pictures with a budget of around $5-10 million.
