Cliff Curtis and Tom Felton also starring…
Joseph Fiennes (‘Hercules,’ ‘Shakespeare in Love’) has been tapped to take the lead in ‘Clavius,’ an early first-century thriller co-starring Cliff Curtis (‘The Dark Horse,’ ‘Colombiana’) and ‘Harry Potter’ star Tom Felton.
With ‘Hatfields & McCoys’ and ‘Waterworld’ helmer Kevin Reynolds behind the camera, the film takes place during the year 33AD in Judea and is told through the eyes of an agnostic Roman Centurion (Fiennes) charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate rumours of a risen Messiah and to locate the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth in order to subdue an imminent uprising in Jerusalem.
Along the Centurion’s mission, his doubts of such a supernatural occurrence peel away as he encounters the Apostles and other historic characters while piecing together the mysterious events that unfolded after the crucifixion.
Patrick Aiello, and Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon of LD Entertainment are producing the film, with filming to get underway this month in Malta and Spain.
