‘The Killing’ actor confirmed for reboot.
Deadline reports that MGM has closed its deal with Joel Kinnaman (‘The Killing’) to play the title role in the José Padilha-directed reboot of ‘Robocop,’ a role originated by Peter Weller in the 1987 Paul Verhoeven original.
The Swedish actor was originally set to star in David Dobkin’s ‘Arthur & Lancelot’ opposite ‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington but that project was put on hold due to its escalating budget, leaving Kinnaman with a gap in his schedule.
Padilha will be directing from a screenplay by ‘Gran Torino’ scribe Nick Schenk.
Kinnaman most recently appeared opposite Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in the action-packed thriller ‘Safe House.’ His previous credits include ‘The Darkest Hour’ and ‘Snabba Cash.’
