Ensemble comedy lines up first star.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Jim Carrey is set to reunite with his ‘Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls’ director Steve Oedekerk for the Black List comedy project ‘Ricky Stanicky.’
The plot centres on three friends who have used an invented friend, Ricky Stanicky, for the past two decades as an excuse to explain their way out of sticky situations. When their girlfriends and wives insist on meeting Stanicky, they hire an out-of-work actor to portray him.
Jeff Bushell penned the original draft but Oedekerk will provide a rewrite. Bushell remains attached to executive produce alongside Michael Aguilar and Zac Unterman of Smart Entertainment.
Carrey is currently starring alongside Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi in ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,’ and will next be seen as Colonel Stars and Stripes in the Jeff Wadlow-directed ‘Kick-Ass 2’ when it arrives in Irish cinemas July 19th.
