Franchise reboot lines up new scribe.
Deadline reports that screenwriter Jeremy Garelick (‘The Hangover,’ ‘The Break-Up’) has been tapped by New Line to rewrite the script for its reboot of the ‘Police Academy’ franchise.
Launched in 1984, the comedy franchise followed a group of good-hearted but incompetent misfits and their comical misadventures in the police academy. The original spanned seven films through the mid-90s.
As previously reported, Scott Zabielski (‘Tosh.O’) is attached to direct, with the reboot making his feature directorial debut.
