Bosworth and Woods in Straw Dogs remake
Kate Bosworth and James Woods have been lined up to star alongside James Marsden in the remake of Straw Dogs.
The Batman Returns star plays the wife of a Hollywood screenwriter – played by Marsden – who returns to her hometown of Mississippi, only to find that life there is not as idyllic as she remembered.
Her role was played by Susan George in Sam Peckinpah’s shocking 1971 original, while Marsden’s role was played by Dustin Hoffman.
Alexander Skarsgard will play Bosworth’s character’s boyfriend, a former high school football hero, who sees her return as an opportunity to reclaim glory.
The new script was written by Rod Lurie, who will also direct the film. His version is a reimagining of the original, which was derided by some critics as misogynisitic and unrelentingly violent.
