Scottish actor eyeing remake?
According to a report over at Bloody Disgusting, James McAvoy (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘Wanted’) is considering taking the lead in ‘The Crow,’ Relativity Media’s long-in-development reboot of the movie based on James O’Barr’s cult graphic novel.
Described as a gritty reboot, the story follows the iconic character of Eric Draven who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his fiancé’s murder so that his soul can finally rest. Starring the late Brandon Lee, the original film is known for its breakthrough visual style as well as its unique production design and cinematography.
‘Before the Fall’ director F. Javier Gutiérrez is on board to direct the “reinvention” with screenwriter Jesse Wigutow (‘It Runs in the Family’) providing the screenplay. McAvoy will next be seen starring opposite Mark Strong in Eran Creevy’s ‘Welcome to the Punch’ when it hits Irish cinemas March 15th.
