First time director hired for reboot…
Visual effects supervisor and second unit director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (‘Maleficent,’ ‘Snow White And The Huntsman,’ ‘The Ring,’ ‘One Hour Photo’) has reportedly been tapped by Summit Entertainment to make his feature directorial debut with the long-in-development reboot of ‘Highlander.’
Featuring a script by ‘Iron Man’ screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the reboot is said to be sticking close to the 1986 Russell Mulcahy-directed that starred Christopher Lambert as one of a waning few survivors of a clan of immortals who can only die by decapitation.
Nicolas-Troyan replaces Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (’28 Weeks Later’) who exited the reboot back in December due to creative differences with the studio.
The reboot will now begin filling out its cast with production aiming for an early 2014 start.
