Forest Whitaker in Negotiations for THE BUTLER

Oscar winner in talks for lead.

Last month it was rumoured that ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ star David Oyelowo was in line to headline Lee Daniels’ ensemble drama ‘The Butler,’ now according to Variety, Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker has entered negotiations for the role.

A passion project for Daniels, the film explores the life of Eugene Allen, the butler who served at the White House under eight presidents from 1952 to 1986.

While Oyelowo won’t be taking the lead role, the actor is still being lined up for a supporting role alongside Oprah Winfrey, who has been offered the role of Allen’s wife, Helene.
