Elle Fanning Finds A STORM IN THE STARS

Fanning to play Mary Shelley in new film…

‘Maleficent’ star Elle Fanning has closed a deal to take the lead in Saudi Arabian filmmaker Haifaa Al-Mansour’s period romantic drama ‘A Storm in the Stars,’ it has been confirmed.

Written by Emma Jensen, the film is about the tumultuous love affair between 17-year-old pre-‘Frankenstein’ Mary Wollstonecraft and her future husband, the dangerously charismatic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.

The film aims “to tell of the tumult of first love of a young woman out of step with her time…who wrote one of the first pieces of literary genre fiction in modern times.”

Amy Baer of Gidden Media is on board to produce, with Joannie Burstein and Rebecca Miller serving as executive producers.

“Elle is amazingly smart and talented and very much relates to Mary as a young woman,”Baer told THR. “She is going to do something extraordinary in this role that will transition her from a compelling young adult to a formidable leading lady.”
