Cast announced for biopic of legendary Venezuelan military and political leader.
Edgar Ramírez (‘Wrath of the Titans,’ ‘Carlos’), Danny Huston (‘Magic City,’ ‘Wrath of the Titans’), Spanish actress María Valverde (‘I Want You,’ ‘Melissa P.’), Imanol Arias (‘33 días,’ ‘El Lute’) and Scottish actor Gary Lewis (‘Neds,’ ‘Billy Elliot’) are to star in ‘Libertador,’ a biopic about 19th century Latin American freedom fighter Simon Bolivar,
The film, penned by Timothy Sexton (‘Children Of Men’), is told from the viewpoint of Bolívar (Ramírez) about his quests and epic military campaigns, which covered twice the territory Alexander the Great conquered, and his vision to unify South America.
‘Libertador’ will be directed by acclaimed South American director Alberto Arvelo (‘Cyrano Fernández,’ ‘A House with a View of the Sea’) and will be produced by Winfried Hammacher and Ana Loehnert. Ramírez and Christer von Lindequist will serve as executive producers.
The film, the biggest independent production out of South America to date, will be primarily shot in Spanish with some English and French dialogue.
