The director of ‘Bride Wars’, ‘Tadpole’ and more has past away
Popular producer and director Gary Winick past away yesterday after a long battle with brain cancer. He had directed some very mainstream hits for Hollywood including ‘Charlotte’s Web’, ’13 Going On 30′, Bride Wars’ and the recent ‘Letters To Julliet’, which he had filmed after major brain surgery.
Winick was also a major supporter of indie cinema, producing 19 indepedent films, including ‘Tadpole’, which he sold to Miramax for $6 million at the 2002 Sundance film Festival.
Cinetic Media reported his loss via Twitter, saying “Gary Winick died today. Too late to make the Oscars tribute, but way too early. He leaves behind a legacy of supporting indie film and NYC.”
