‘The King’s Speech’ writer hired for biopic.
UK-based film and television finance company Cascade Media Development is developing ‘The Lady Who Went Too Far,’ a biopic of Lady Hester Stanhope, and has tapped Oscar-winning scribe David Seidler to provide the screenplay.
Based on the biography ‘Star of the Morning: The Extraordinary Life of Lady Hester Stanhope’ by Kirsten Ellis, the film will tell the true story of Stanhope, who rejected London society in the early 1800s to travel across the Mediterranean and into the Middle East, where she played a major role in stifling Napoleon’s advances toward India.
The project reunites Seidler with ‘The King’s Speech’ producer Gareth Unwin of Bedlam Productions. ‘The Lady Who Went Too Far’ is set to go into production later this year.
