Special live screening of Danny Boyle’s new play will show at the IFI
Danny Boyle is returning to the horror genre again with Frankenstein, a series of live performances from the National Theatre London broadcast onto cinema screens around the world. It hits Ireland for one performance only, March 17th at the Irish Film Institute.
The Oscar winner director, who recently brought us 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire returns to the theatre to direct this visionary new production, based on the classic novel by Mary Shelley. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker (Benedict Cumberbatch). Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature (played by Jonny Lee Miller), increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.
The addition of Jonny Lee Miller and an exclusive brand new soundtrack from Underworld, makes this a three-way Trainspotting reunion).
The production will be shown live on Patrick’s Day at the IFI cinema in Dublin. Tickets can be purchased here.
