‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ director Marc Webb has officially announced that ‘Chronicle’ star Dane DeHaan is set to join the cast of the next installment of comic book franchise alongside Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and fellow newcomers Jamie Foxx and Shailene Woodley.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci penned the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. Webb will produce the sequel with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
DeHaan’s casting as Harry Osborn was confirmed by Webb via his Twitter (@MarcW) who wrote “Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board. @danedehaan.” “Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” Webb said.
Set for release in 3D May 2014, the new film in the Spider-Man saga will begin principal photography early 2013.
