Brie Larson (‘Short Term 12,’ ‘The Gambler’) and Sir Ben Kingsley (‘The Boxtrolls,’ ‘Iron Man 3’) have signed on to join Daniel Radcliffe on the cast of Douglas McGrath’s historical drama ‘Brooklyn Bridge.’

McGrath penned the script for the historical drama which was inspired by true events during the construction of the New York landmark in the 19th century.

Radcliffe plays Washington Roebling, an inexperienced civil engineer who has to take over the building of the bridge when his dad, architect John A. Roebling (Kingsley) dies. Larson is set to play Emily Roebling, John Roebling’s wife.

“We knew this was a special project from the moment [Douglas McGrath, writer and director] shared his script and it’s going to be thrilling to see it come to life in the hands of such talented, fearless and brilliant actors,” said producer Christine Vachon.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin next year with Vachon producing via Killer Films, alongside Rose Ganguzza. Goldcrest Films will finance.
