Fabrice Luchini will co-star.
It has been confirmed that ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ star Gemma Arterton is to lead director Anne Fontaine’s ‘Gemma Bovery,’ a feature adaptation of Possy Simmonds’ comic strip turned graphic novel.
Described as a reimagining of Gustave Flaubert’s ‘Madame Bovary,’ the film is the tragicomic story of the life and death of the titular character, an English expatriate living in Normandy.
Production is expected to kick off this Summer with French actor Fabrice Luchini (‘In The House,’ ‘The Women on the 6th Floor’) co-starring. Arterton will next be seen starring alongside Saoirse Ronan in Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’ when it opens in Irish cinemas in May.
