Another actor in the running to play the masked avenger.
Last week it was revealed that Ryan Gosling was in talks to star opposite Johnny Depp in Gore Verbinski’s adaptation of ‘The Lone Ranger,’ but due to the actor’s busy schedule Gosling had to pass on the movie. Now Deadline reports that Armie Hammer is in “early talks” to play the titular role.
Hammer, best known for playing the Winklevoss twins in David Fincher’s ‘The Social Network,’ is currently starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood’s ‘J. Edgar;’ the actor is set to follow that up with the Tarsem Singh-directed ‘Brothers Grimm: Snow White.’
Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are eager to get ‘The Lone Ranger’ off the ground sometime this year with plans for the movie to be released Autumn 2012. If scheduling can be worked out, we should be seeing the masked avenger hitting cinemas next year.
