Ready to take another trip down the rabbit hole?
Variety is hearing that Walt Disney Pictures is planning a sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 hit ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ and has hired screenwriter Linda Woolverton to pen the screenplay.
Along with writing the first film for the studio, Woolverton has a long history with the House of Mouse, having previously written the screenplays for ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘The Lion King,’ ‘Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey.’ The scribe is also behind the studio’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ reimagining, ‘Maleficent.’
Plot details for the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ sequel are, as expected, firmly under wraps.
In addition to writing the sequel, Woolverton has penned the script for a stage play and musical adaptation of ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ which has Rob Ashford on board to direct.
