Stardust director Matthew Vaughn will co-write and direct a big-screen version of the comic book Kick-Ass.

The screenplay will be co-written by the Stardust director Vaughn and writer Jane Goldman.

Kick-Ass, written by Mark Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr, portrays the life of high school student Dave Lizewski, who becomes obsessed with the idea of real-life superheroes. After constructing a costume, the character becomes a crime-fighting vigilante, depsite the fact he lacks the muscles or superpowers the job.
