Simon Pegg Talks Star Trek

An Egyptian slave turns to Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while falling in love with his master, a philosopher and atheist.

Hot Fuzz actor Simon Pegg has claimed that he “agonised” over whether to take the part of Scotty in the new Star Trek movie.

The comedian said it took him a few days to respond to a one-line email from director JJ Abrams that said: “Would you like to be Scotty?” Pegg, speaking to JoBlo, explained that  he “agonised over it for a couple of days, ‘Should I do this, is this the right thing for me to do? Eventually I decided it was because, you know, I love my job and my job is pretty much, as much as I can, about having fun. And this seemed to be a really fun thing to do.”

The prequel will be released in May 2009. Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana and Winona Ryder are among the cast.

TIDBIT: Pegg is a huge Star Wars fan and his work often includes references to the Star Wars saga, somehow we think it’s unlikely that will be the case for  the Star Trek movie!
