Matthew Goode Circling Chanwook Parks STOKER

Actor eyeing ‘Oldboy’ director’s first English-language film.

‘Watchmen’ star Matthew Goode is in talks to take the male lead in director Chan-wook Park’s thriller ‘Stoker.’ The movie marks the director’s first English-language movie and already has Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman attached to star.

Penned by actor Wentworth Miller (‘Resident Evil: Afterlife,’ ‘Prison Break’) under the pseudonym Ted Foulke, the thriller centers on a teenage girl who, while mourning the death of her father, must deal with the unexpected appearance of her enigmatic and estranged uncle.

Colin Firth and James Franco were at one point being courted for the role. Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton had also shown interest. The movie will be produced by Tony and Ridley Scott under their Scott Freebanner along with Michael Costigan.
