Happy Ever Afters begins

Sally Hawkins stars in Irish romantic comedy ‘Happy Ever Afters’

Principal Photography has begun in Ireland on Stephen Burke’s debut feature film ‘Happy Ever Afters’.

The film stars Sally Hawkins, Silver Bear winner at the Berlin international film festival (Happy-go-lucky, Cassandra’s Dream), Tom Riley (I love Candy), Deirdre Molloy (Adam and Paul) and Simon Delaney (Bachelor’s Walk) along with a host of well-known Irish faces.

The pic is billed as a  a screwball wedding comedy, where two couples marry for the wrong reasons and end up in the same hotel for their wedding receptions. Wrong place, right time?!!

Happy Ever Afters is a Newgrange Pictures production in co-production with the German company Tatfilm. It’s being funded by the Irish Film Board, Disney Ireland and the French Sales Agent Films Distribution. The executive producer is Jane Doolan and director of photography is Jonathan Kovel.

Lesley McKimm, Producer (Newgrange Pictures) said “Myself & Stephen are thrilled to be making Happy Ever Afters with such a great cast & crew – we feel very lucky to have the talents of Sally Hawkins, Tom Riley, Ger Ryan and Michael McElhatton and many others working with us, all we need now is a little luck with the sunshine.”

“The summer months will be very busy for Irish film production and I’m delighted to say that Happy Ever Afters is one of six Irish films shooting in counties all over Ireland this Summer. Ondine will shoot in Cork, Triage filmed in location in Dublin, Savage is currently shooting in Dublin, and Cherrybomb is shooting in Belfast” said Simon Perry, Chief Executive, Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board. “All of these films will bring the benefits of expenditure and employment to the locality in which they will film”

Happy Ever Afters will film in various locations in and around Dublin and Wicklow.
