Guillermo del Toro Producing Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Remake

Guillermo Del Toro is to produce a remake of horror-thriller ‘Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark.’

The Pan’s Labyrinth/Heelboy director, who recently signed on to helm The Hobbit and its sequel, will oversee the big screen adaptation of the 1973 TV movie.

The original film – which starred Kim Darby, Jim Hutton and Barbara Anderson – focused on a young housewife who finds demon-like creatures in the mansion she shares with her new husband.

Comic book artist and writer Troy Nixey will make his feature directorial debut with the film

“It has always been a dream of mine to work on a project with Guillermo, my favourite filmmaker,” he said. “I had no idea it would be on my first one out.

Del Toro’s next project ‘Hellboy 2: The Golden Army’ is in Irish cinemas August 20th.
