Casting Begins for Billy Bob Thorntons JAYNE MANSFIELDS CAR

Billy Bob Thornton slowly finding the cast for his next directorial effort.

Deadline reports that Billy Bob Thornton (‘Sling Blade’) has cast John Patrick Amedori (‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,’ ‘Stick It’), John Hurt, Kevin Bacon, Robert Patrick and Ray Stevenson for his first next directorial effort, ‘Jayne Mansfield’s Car.’ The actors join Robert Duvall who has been attached to the project since January.

Thornton co-wrote the script with frequent collaborator Tom Epperson (‘The Gift,’ ‘A Family Thing,’ ‘One False Move’). The movie is a comedy with dramatic overtones and revolves around the culture clash of two families, from different continents, in 1969.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly back in Janurary, Duvall outlined the story saying:

“It’s about a guy in between WWI and WWII who raises a family after his wife left him for an Englishman and moved to England…When the wife dies, she asks to be brought back to Alabama to be buried, and at that point the character hasn’t seen her in 20 or 30 years. The two families — her original family she abandoned and her English family — meet and then things get really interesting.”

Dennis Quaid and Dwight Yoakam were previously rumoured to be joining the cast but they appear to have dropped out of the project. Production will kick off June 22nd in Georgia.
