Variety is reporting that Casey Affleck (‘The Killer Inside Me’) is in negotiations to play the angel Gabriel, God’s six-winged messenger in the big-budget adaptation of John Milton’s 17th Century poem ‘Paradise Lost.’
The effects heavy adaptation follows the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, including the latter’s role in Adam and Eve’s fall from grace. Bradley Cooper and Ben Walker star as the warring archangels with Djimon Hounsou attached to play Abdiel, the angel of death.
Camilla Belle (‘Father of Invention,’ ‘Push’) is being eyed for female lead of Eve according to Deadline, while ‘Rock of Ages’ star Diego Boneta is believed to be the frontrunner for the role of Adam.
Alex Proyas (‘Dark City,’ ‘The Crow’) is set to direct with a script by Ryan Condal. Production will kick off early 2012 in Sydney, Australia. Affleck will next be seen in Brett Ratner’s ‘Tower Heist’ when it hits Irish cinemas November 4th.
