Ben Afflecks ARGO Eyeing John Goodman

Actor in talks for hostage crisis thriller.

Variety reports that John Goodman (‘Red State,’ ‘The Artist) is set join Ben Affleck’s political thriller ‘Argo,’ the helmer’s third directorial effort.

Based on true events, the story is adapted from a Wired magazine article telling the story of a secret mission by the CIA and Canadian to rescue six U.S. diplomats who’d been taken hostage at the American embassy by a group of Iranians in 1979 by pretending that they were part of a Hollywood film crew scouting a movie called ‘Argo.’

Goodman would play John Chambers, the Oscar-winning ‘Planet of the Apes’ makeup artist called in to help sell the ruse. The actor would be joining the recently cast Alan Arkin, who will be playing Hollywood producer Lester Siegel.

It was recently revealed that Affleck plans to have his six lead actors confined to a house for two weeks prior to the start of production so that they understand what it means to be held hostage.
