One more young mutant joins the mix…
Aussie actor Kodi Smit-McPhee (‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,’ ‘ParaNorman,’ ‘The Road’) has been cast as the younger incarnation of Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ The film’s director Bryan Singer confirmed the casting via Instagram.
Smit-McPhee joins a cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, and newcomers Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Alexandra Shipp as the younger versions of Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. As revealed earlier this month, Rose Byrne will return to reprise her role of Moira MacTaggert.
Created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum, Nightcrawler possesses superhuman agility, the ability to teleport, and adhesive hands and feet. The fan-favourite was played by Alan Cumming in 2003’s ‘X-Men 2.’
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is set to open May 27th 2016.
