Superhero finds young Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm…
After weeks of rumours and studio shortlists director Bryan Singer has revealed that ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan (‘Mud,’ ‘Joe,’ ‘Tree of Life’) and Alexandra Shipp (‘Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B’) have joined the cast of the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’
British actress Turner will play the younger incarnation of Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey; Sheridan will take the role of Cyclops (portrayed in the original trilogy by James Marsden), with Shipp as the younger version of Halle Berry’s Storm.
The next outing of the X-Men franchise will continue on the timeline that was set up with last year’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ with the action taking place a decade later. In the film Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) will face their most formidable foe yet – En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse (Oscar Issac).
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is expected to principal photography in the coming months, with release pencilled in for May 27, 2016.
